I’ve been on something of a sewing hiatus lately. But those unfinished quilt tops have been driving me crazy. So, I’ve been gathering fabrics to start sewing some backings.
This is my least favorite part of the quilting process. But the good part is that I’ll be using up a lot of fabric. Which means that there will be some space on my fabric shelf. Which means there will be a fabric shopping spree in my future :)
I was at Joann Fabric last week and spotted some Alexander Henry (my fave).
There’s always a little AH hidden somewhere in Joanns. And the 50% coupon is what makes fabric shopping there so. much. fun. I used the fabric to make my mom a pillow for her birthday.
Love ya, mama!
I whipped up a couple of pot holders for my mom last week. She had bought some dish towels made with Heather Ross fabric at a craft show. They kept coming out of the dryer super wrinkled, so I cut ’em up.
I wasn’t previously a huge fan of Heather Ross but I loved working with this fabric. So cute and such a great weight.
And every kitchen deserves a pair of cute potholders.
The other day I tripped over my overflowing, chaotic fabric scrap bin and felt inspired to do a bit of sewing.
I’m not sure what I’m planning…maybe a log cabin quilt? Whatever it ends up being, it’s so nice to sneak in a little sewing on a busy day.
I couldn’t resist getting some of this fabric during my last shopping trip. The genius of Eric Carle on fabric! AND it’s perfect for …

Using this cute tutorial from one shabby chick, I made my sister a cover for her kindle.
I used this great London Subway Map fabric. My sister spent a semester abroad there when she was in college and loved it. So, it felt like a serendipitous fabric moment.
A little log cabin I sewed up the other day with some of my favorite fabrics.
I didn’t have a specific project in mind- just wanted to sew. It could end up being anything someday. Maybe it’s time to finally tackle that log cabin quilt I’ve been wanting to sew? For now it’ll just hang around looking pretty.
